SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM "KANSAS CITY"

Sneaky Sound System are back!

Following on from their award winning multi-platinum selling debut comes the release of the first single ‘Kansas City’ from their forthcoming album ‘2’.

Remixes by Tomboy (AKA Tomas Barford and member of Who Made Who) who has remixed the likes of Bloc Party, Gorillaz, Chromeo, Digitalism, Peaches & LCD Soundsystem plus local hero Beni (of Riot In Belgium fame) who has delivered a slamming remix with a bit of engineering assistance from Nicky Van She. Final slice in this hot remix pie comes from Lifelike (France) noted for his sublime work with Sia, Annie, Sebastian Leger, Super Mal, Shapeshifters & the Ed Banger crew. Enjoy.

The single goes to Radio on June 16 and will be on sale from July 12.

LIL MO YING YANG "REACH"

Originally released in 95 this collaboration between Lil Louis Vega & Erick Morillo is based on an India vocal sample "Reach out for Love".

History is set to repeat itself as the tune was a monster back then and will certainly be a monster now. Anthem and half, this now gets a tidy update with a massive mix from TV ROCK, Mark Knight,
ATFC, plus comes with original and Lee Cabrera mix

SEANY B "HAPPY TODAY"

Happy Today is lifted from Seany B's hotly anticipated solo album, to be released later this year, with remixes from D.O.N.S. and Mind Electric. Seany B describes "a melting pot" of his myriad influences on the album, from Motown soul to vintage funk to ol' and nu skool hip-hop to electronica, with lavish instrumentation.

Whilst best known for providing the
bassy vocals and spicy lyrics for TV Rock’s contagious hit Flaunt It, which topped the ARIA charts for 5 weeks and went on to scoop two ARIA awards for Best Dance Single as well as Highest Selling Single at last years awards, Seany B is no newcomer to the dance scene. In addition to providing no less than three rockin’ tunes on the acclaimed TV Rock album Sunshine City, including the neo – ‘90s Hip House Is Back, Seany B had previously created and fronted the wildly popular underground posse Dirty Laundry and was a regular on the club scene.

Over the past 4 years,
Seany B has dazzled partygoers with his hip hop, house and electro style, from Perth to the Gold Coast, Darwin to Launceston, playing in excess of over 100 shows a year. As well as establishing a successful solo career as a performer / rapper, the songwriter has now co-produced a solo album and a year of live shows with a new band and great DJs is well underway.

The Australian-born MC has an unusual background.
Seany B's mother is a New York native while his father is Czech. He attended high school in the US and has widely travelled.

Because of this pluralistic upbringing,
Seany B will never let go of his roots in party culture. "Look, I'm not necessarily trying to change the world with my music. I just really wanna be happy. I want people to enjoy themselves.

"I just love what I do - and I do what I like. I have very strong feelings that govern my life, my lyrics and my music… When other people hear my songs or see me perform I want to make them know what it means to feel alive….then I want them to DANCE!”

IN THE CLUB "TURN ON YOU"

What happens when you blend the best pop-funk from the eighties along with a current club electro sensibility? You fuse it all together to expose one of the coolest straight-up rock club bands out of Paris – In The Club. Chakib, Simon, Herve and Geo were discovered by notorious French rock mag Les Inrockuptibles in 2006 with their first track She’s A Man. After an intense performance period with some notable warm-up slots for the likes of; New Young Pony Club, Dragonette and Forward Russia - In The Club became notorious in Paris. Their debut single Turn On You delivers a straight rock-pop infused club track with its heart set in a firm French electro landscape. In The Club have also been seduced by Headman, Mowgli, John Paradox and Donovan, all producing some superb club remixes for Turn On You. A very strong release of “rock dansant” as the French call it.

This is the first release from
Bandroom Records.
BANDROOM records is an Australian independent label of sorts. By label we mean a place where good music is found and nurtured, so that you, the DJ and radio person, have great records to make your people dance or nod their heads. Expect something a little different from what we do, and always a little bit nuts.

We love finding things from our own backyard, and from around the world that makes us dance, gives us a shiver, or is so good that someone sent it to us ten times. Essentially, its great music and we know your
gonna dig it too, so enjoy the first bunch of releases from the BANDROOM family.

WILEY "WEARING MY ROLEX"

Rapper, producer and MC Legend - Wiley returns from self-imposed retirement with Wearing My Rolex’. Released through the legendary Asylum label, a division of Atlantic Records, this fantastic slice of ‘electro-grime’ or ‘hip-house’ spearheads the newest subgenre about to hit the mainstream. Causing an absolute storm in the UK, the infectious and unstoppable beats are currently sweeping the nation's clubs from Shoreditch to Scotland.

Produced by Bless Beats, ‘Wearing My Rolex’ samples
DSK's east coast garage classic ‘What Would We Do’. Since getting its very first radio play, it has gone on to enjoy massive support from the likes of Jo Whiley, Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Zane Lowe on Radio 1 an incredible 8 weeks upfront. I

Entering ground-breaking new musical territory, Wiley switches up the scene once more and proves he is the undisputed king of the UK underground. He has been away for a minute, but once more Wiley is right on time. Delivering what is no doubt his biggest hit to date, he not only solidifies his own status, but the importance of the UK urban scene. LAURENT WOLF feat ERIC CARTER "NO STRESS"

France’s Laurent Wolf began his career as a DJ at the infamous QUEEN nightclub in Paris in 1992 where he carved a niche for himself over the next decade as one of the Club's mainstays.

In 1995, he tried his hand at producing and brought out "HOUSE TRAIN" that immediately flew to the top of French Club charts for three weeks in a row. A little later, he brought out "HOUSE SCREAM" and a remix of
C.I.E., both also number ones on the Club scene. Finally, in 2002, he founded the labels DARKNESS, AFRODYNAMIC and RITMODYNAMIC together with the producer Christian Lester.

These productions, in his own distinctive style (strident drums, powerful bass and, of course, the vocals) are the musical reflections of the Laurent Wolf sound. To date, his labels represent over 200,000 vinyl records sold throughout the world.

With international hits like
SAXO or CALINDA, and over 50 countries conquered by his dynamic and resolutely dance floor mixes, Laurent Wolf is recognized today as one of the best French DJ-producers on the planet alongside his contemporary David Guetta.

Laurent Wolf's new album, "WASH MY WORLD", will be released in Australia in August 2008.

“No Stress” comes with mixes from Thomas Gold and Chris Ortega,
Antone
Wick and Jeremy Hills.

:HOT PICK ALBUMS FOR THE MONTH:

BALANCE - ELECTRIC 03 MIXED BY BEN KORBEL

EQ’s Balance presents Electric series is back after a short hiatus with another exciting installment, this time mixed by Australian DJ and connoisseur Ben Korbel. The third in the Electric series won’t disappoint those fans expecting nothing less than cutting edge underground dance music, showcasing a seamless fusion of deep house and techno expertly blended by one of Australia’s leading DJs.

To say this release has been a long time coming for Ben Korbel is an understatement. Electric 03 is his debut mix proper and it’s a decade in the making. Ben’s peerless sense of lineage, his irrepressible passion for a great tune and his impeccable programming and mixing are all a given; what you get here is warmth, soul and a humane groove that lacks in the click-and-drag age. From the first flutters of Luciano, through the liquid funk of Der Dritte Raum to the classic stabs and washes of LFO this mix provides a consummate selection of the finest producers from the underground house and techno scene, also including the likes of
Ricardo Villalobos, Swayzak, Pikaya, Rob Mello and more…

If you’ve ever heard Ben play, you’ll have no doubt sprained vocal chords or twisted cheek muscles bouncing around like a sweaty beach ball to one of his impeccably delirious sets. Complementing Ben on his expertise at any time is always met with unbridled humility but those who’ve met him know not to be perplexed if he calls you Paddle Pop lion then chases you down the street with a face full of clothes pegs. It is, quite simply, how the lad rolls.

Not around quite as long as the Paddle Pop lion, but equally brown eyed and bearded, Ben Korbel has been illuminating DJ booths for nigh on a decade. Back when most selectors were throwing around bad Italo disco and Jason Nevins remixes of The Vengaboys, Ben was crafting unique sonic tangents (influenced by French Horn abuse and the Northern Exposure mixes equally) that immediately made him stand out.

His unique brand of Future Techno has slowly evolved into a genre unto itself, a sound that uses classic European techno, vintage progressive, crisp neo-electro and deep driving house as its bricks and mortar. Striking a chord with clubbers, promoters and selectors, He’s gone from headlining legendary Sydney parties like Sweetchilli and Sounds On Sunday to supporting international heavy weights like Sasha and Danny Tenaglia to playing revered clubs like Space, Weekend Club and The Cross all the while leaving flailing limbs and Muppet grins in his wake.

A DJ set at the hands of Ben Korbel is a pleasure in any music lover’s books. He brings with him the highest level of professionalism, coupled with a raw passion for what he does. That is why he has been, and will continue to be one of Australia’s premier league DJs.
